| Thought I'd share this as I'm here, used it on another RP server but hey, ya'll might want a look. D: Gang Roleplay Guide - Dr_Dre Introduction Hi. As the previous annoyances from Continental with the general illegal, but mainly gang Roleplay, I decided to make my own guide from two years of experience, missing out the third I spent either in the LSFD, doing nothing or in Continental. This Guide is split into categories.
People recognize gangs as only the types of people who go around with a Baseball Bat trying to get revenge on other street gangs and start trouble. This is not true. Gangs are smart, they make sure their attacks are for a proper reason, i.e. another crew killed their member, they have been dealing in their areas, if they was to simply insult each other, the insults would very well pursue into something bigger.
Gangs aren't all about drug/gun dealing. Infact, that is just a small part of a Gang. An Organised Gang are a group of people who have grew up together and have stayed in the same area. Drug/Gun dealing within a gang is all for the money they need to make, but it's something they don't want to do. As well as attacking other gangs, they would only ever do something like that if it was necessary.Contents- 1 - Starting a Gang

1 - Starting a Gang- Spoiler:
1 - Starting A Gang Starting a gang has been a problem. Gangs are always a group of men who have grew up in the same neighborhood. The leaders, never mind if you have only just started an account, should always be a group who have grew up together, they could of met eachother at 12, 1, 17... any age. Just as long as they RPly met each other at a young age and never met each other when they was for instance, a high rank in a gang. 1.1 - RecruitmentFor players to join your gang, you should always RP it fully. Gangs are always careful of who they hang around with, which is why you should NEVER trust anybody until you're one hundred percent sure they're legit and not a 'snitch'. FBI could be a huge faction on the server. FBI have this knowledge, hopefully, and could instead be offering to buy drugs off you rather than joining the gang, which is why you should also be careful of who you sell to, which is explained in section [YOU NEED TO ADD A NUMBER HEREHEREHEREHEREHEREHEREHEREHEREHEREHEREHEREHEREHEREHEREHEREHEREHEREHEREHEREHEREHEREHEREHEREHEREHEREHEREHEREHEREHEREHEREHEREHEREHEREHEREHEREHEREHEREHEREHEREHEREHEREHEREHEREHEREHEREHEREHEREHEREHEREHERE]
For a player to join the gang, the character should be at a young age. Preferably any age up to 18. If they want to be older, they should message a commanding member and ask if they can ICly be a very important friend/family member/family friend/ex-member, left only for something like was in prison for a few years, POSSIBLY but also rarely if they was trying to keep low, but if they had moved out of the 'hood' to keep low, should have an eye kept on them. 1.2 - PromotionsPromoting members is quite tricky. Members of a gang IRL are probably an Outsider, the lowest possible rank, for a few years, if they grew up with the gang, if not, they should actually be an Outsider for the rest of their life, unless they are to do something extremely special, which is why I said new members should be at an age up to 18 at the most.1.2.1 - Ways of promoting > Outsider-First Ragged RankThere is a HUGE list of possible ways to rag someone for the first time, I put them in order of how frequent it is used.- Jump-In - Outsider is told that they are going to be ragged soon. They're given a time to show up to an abandoned area in the neighborhood, preferably in a high command's back garden, or even in their house. The Outsider will stand in the middle of a circle of ragged members and be attacked at random. No pain, no game. That's basically all it is, you take a beating without defending yourself. The aim of this is to prove to the rag members that you trust them.
- Forced Attack - Outsider is sent to a rival gang's hood. They have to attack one of them, shoot, stab, jump, whatever. If they've been brutally injured or dead, they will be invited to the gang with a rag.
- No Messing Around - Rag is given with a congratulations. End of.
The list is bigger, put down here if you have a suggestion for this part! 1.3 - Ranking The ranking of a gang is sort of based on what kind of gang they are. Remember one thing: GANGS ARE NEVER DEALER SQUADS. The only reason Gangs have huge reputation for dealing things like guns or drugs is because they use their TRUSTED MEMBERS to do these things. Trusted Outsiders begin to deal, they have to be in a gang for quite some time before being allowed to do this though and should only be given a partial amount of items to sell with a limited amount of time. The person giving out the jobs should be a high command, they should have a ranking of leading a certain area in the gang. Gangs normally use Police callsigns as their ranking, for instance, 'Lieutenant, Corporal' could come into the ranking, but two very popular different ranking are also involved. 'Outsider, Shot Caller'. A Shot Caller could be the Co or actual Leader. An Outsider, obviously, is a newish member who is not ragged yet. 1.4 - Disguising In a Gang, no matter what your reputation is, you should always have a nickname. Using your first name when talking to people is sort of stupid while RPing in a Gang, IRL you would never meet a Gangbanger and he would give you any part of his name. Your nickname should be distinctive, so it doesn't mix in with other people and people can easily refer to you in conversation. "Damn man, just go talk to Rence." Rence would be my nickname as my name is Lawrence, obviously taking the last five letters. It's distinctive. 2 - Managing a Gang- Spoiler:
2 - Managing a Gang To manage a gang you need a lot of people to command with you, as well as good patience and co operation OOCly, slightly ICly as a gang leader should be a famous person in the crew, but also infamous to the public. You should always remember, as a gang leader you must make sure all members respect you. Gangs are never about killing the other, maybe attacks are necessary if they do start it themselves, if they are slipping, i.e, in your neighborhood, you should actually take action, maybe kidnap or just attack that member who is in your hood. You are in charge of everything, but as a gang leader you should always count your other high command, as they should be the only people you trust in the gang apart from yourself.
I know for a fact the majority of you all think 'leading a gang, I'll drug deal and make moneys and buy businesses'. No. You stay in your neighborhood, you keep low. You make sure your name isn't told to the public ICly, make sure that if your name is discovered, you try your best to stay out of sight. Having an alt is such a good idea as a gang leader, so you could actually switch to it when staying low ICly. And a member could even PM you, telling you that he's calling you ICly.
As I just went off-topic in the paragraph above, I'll explain what I was supposed to say. As a gang leader, you always take things seriously. You want to buy a new car, but your other high command members think that it's a shit car? Don't buy it. You always listen to the High Command of your gang. But if any of them give you talk, make sure they know about it. 2.1 - Gang Areas You may of heard the sentence 'get to your corner' tossed around in some Gang RP in different RP servers. Well, the term is the fact that some gangs have different systems. A: Gang lets all members deal wherever in the hood with permission. B: Gang has different corners, some are lead by different members of the gang. Option B is my personal favorite. Let me tell you all something, MEMBERS OF FACTIONS LOVE PROMOTION MORE THAN I LOVE DRE. This is why option B successful. Option B allows ragged members to have their own area in a gang. Say for instance, your gang was set out like this.
Gangbanger A. runs the Misonipalous Ave street. He wants to get some work going, he finds some Outsiders or newly ragged members that he trusts. He asks them if they want to work for him. Gangbanger B does the same with Lawrence, Gangbanger C does the same for Shooper and Gangbanger D does the same for nicknamed 'Fasive Corner', which would have some meaning in the name. Areas can be claimed as in corners, for example, Fasive. Or, streets, as seen in the rest. Sometimes, if it was a bigger area, for instance the whole of ELS, someone could run around the Church area, someone could run around the Beach area, or around Cluckin' Bell and the Pig Pen. Etc. 2.2 - RulingGangs need a set of rules, but the rules need to be obvious rather than written down in a topic. Outsiders could break a rule that isn't obvious and let off, but if they broke a rule that was mentioned a lot in a normal discussion within the Gang, they would be punished for it extremely. Gang Leaders have very low tolerance, if a mistake was to be made they had to know about it, and so would the person who broke the rule. 2.3 - MoneyGangs have different ways of making money. The biggest is dealing, but other methods like often 24/7 robberies (NOT BANK), often muggings, they both fall back compared to dealing. Gangs have always been famous for dealing drugs or guns, it is a main prospect for a gang. But it's not as simple as buying some drugs and working for somebody, most of the time. Members should be respected to be able to deal and the person supplying them should have a high reputation in the Gang, so if anyone had concerns he could be contacted. 3 - Member Management- Spoiler:
3 - Member Management If you are High Command in a gang you have to manage your members carefully. Higher, ragged and respected members should be given and announce rights across the Gang area. There are ways of managing gang members. One could lead a certain area, or one could be given the opportunity to temporarily command the Gang while one of the leaders can't be around for some time.
Another way of managing members is outsiders. You need to recognize when a member deserves to be ragged, thus being a part of the family, or even promoting ragged members to tell them that you are in charge of something else. Punishment is the biggest era, you have to know when a member should be talked to regarding something bad they did recently. Other Information- Spoiler:
Often Used SlangPolice Helicopter - Slippin' - Used when you see either your own member in another gang territory, or another gang member in your own territory. Or even staying out of the hood for quite some time. "Yo he's slippin' man."
- What it do/What's Good - 'What's up?'
- MJ/Mary Jane/Kush/Sticky/Grass - Weed
- Snow/Powder - Cocaine
- Five-O/Fed - Police
Ok, I'll update this a lot. I still need to add over two more sections. Please comment. The below reserved space is so I can write my latest updates to the topic. Please, read this if you're planning on starting a gang faction.Topic was made for a server Callisto RP by Dr_DreCodes are a bit bugged, to be honest cant be fucked fixing it lol. | Very nice. Having recently come into ownership of a faction, this guide should prove to be quite helpful. Thank you.
Oh, and a suggestion for the ragging portion of the guide; tattooing. Not the best standalone means of ragging someone, but it's great to RP after an aspiring gang member has attacked and killed a rival. Having returned to the 'hood from putting in work, a higher ranking member of the set uses a sharp object to cut a symbol into the aspiring member's flesh, oftentimes a teardrop below the eye. (From what I've heard, however, the teardrop is more common amongst cholos than black gangbangers) This tattoo shows that the person has killed for the gang and is to be respected and feared.
An example of this can be seen at 2:38 in the following set of clips from the movie South Central.
