El Corona | Gang History Posted on: andreasurgangs.blogspot.com/streetgangs/2014 Since the early 70s that the "Crown Town" has been a location favored for gang activity, always on the radar of the media world and the LSPD. Statistics from a study revealed that in this latino neighbourhood, the crime and murder rate are consistently ranked in the top five for the city. 90% of the hispanic locals commit gang related activities atleast once in their life, 78% are recruited into them, 86% will end up shot or prisoned. Racial crimes are not strange here, since the neighbourhood has always been dominated by Surenos who rival the surronding Black gangs. The neighbourhood has been controlled by multiple generations of gangsters such as the Golden Palms 13 or the Frosts 13. Varrio Los Aztecas was once one of the main recruiters of local youth, maybe the reason why they are still so infamously known and remembered.
Hang Out Boyz (HOB 13, HOB CITY, Hangers Gang, Flats Gang, Bad Ass Mother Fuckers, Surenos) HOB is a very recently formed gang in the area. Because we know so very little about them, we took a trip down to El Corona and, by good luck, we nearly missed their only tag (for turf marking) so far. We asked around and found someone who was willing to give us some answers.
Q. So, you know I'm very interested in having information from every gang in the south side of the city. These guys are new. What can you tell me about them? A. Not much, they just started from what I know. Most of them are still in school.
Q. Oh, so we can assume it's a very young gang? A. Uh, yeah, I guess so. This hood has always had guys like that, though.
Q. From the tag I saw, they name themselves a lot of things. "Bad Ass Mf's" got my laughing. A. Yeah, they are kinda immature. (laughs)
Q. I understand that. Do you know why? A. (Shrugs and pauses) Everyone joins a gang for a reason right? To live or to die. There's been a lot of random, weird stuff going on, I guess they trying to feel safe or something. Now... now they even got more girls interested in them too. It's crazy.
Q. Yep, I know what you're talking about, the lifestyle. Do you know any of them? A. Personally? No, but they seem approachable.

Everyone can have their own opinions about it. From my experience, despite their early ages, most of them are or will become "full-fledged" gangmembers, ready to commit serious crimes like others have in the past if they feel pressured to do so. All of them are from low-class families with similar stories and views on the world. Money is short and so there's a lot of drug dealing and stealing just to hang by. They love adrenaline so vandalism and graffiti tagging and picking fights aren't rare in this type of gangs. Keep following the blog for more in the future, thanks for reading.

Out Of Character Information The main goal of the faction is to imitate the small Sureño varrios from California, and ours is loosely based on the Hang Out Boyz (HOBZ) gang from South Central Los Angeles. Great roleplay today, especially the chase. Would like to give my thanks to the PD, keep it up Bible and Co. The development of our characters has been going a bit faster than planned, but it looks realistic and natural to me so it's all good.
