History of Vasily's Crime Family

Quote :
Organized crime has existed in Russia since the days of the Czars and Imperial Russia in the form of banditry and thievery. In the Soviet period Vory v zakone or "thieves in law" (understood as "bound by code") emerged. This class of criminals had to abide by certain rules in the prison system. One such rule was that cooperation with the authorities of any kind was forbidden. During World War II some prisoners made a deal with the government to join the armed forces in return for a reduced sentence, but upon their return to prison they were attacked and killed by inmates who remained loyal to the rules of the thieves. During the era when the Soviet economy took a downhill turn, the Vory would take control of the black market with the help of corrupt officials, supplying products such as electronics or delicatessen during the Brezhnev era which were hard to reach for the ordinary Soviet citizen.

The real breakthrough for criminal organizations began in 1988, when the Soviet Union legalised private entrepreneurship, allowing free trade. However the new law said nothing about regulations and security of market economy. Crude markets started forming, the most notorious being the Rizhsky market where prostitution rings were run next to the Rizhsky Railway Station in Moscow. As the Soviet Union headed for its collapse, so too did the economy and resulted in a social decay. Desperate for money, many former government workers turned to crime, others joined the former Soviet citizens who moved overseas, and the Russian Mafia became a natural extension of this trend. Former KGB agents, sportsmen and veterans of the Afghan and First and Second Chechen Wars, now finding themselves out-of-work but with experience in areas which could prove useful in crime, joined the increasing crime wave. Widespread corruption, poverty and distrust of authorities only contributed to the rise of organized crime. Contract killings, bombings and kidnappings reached an all-time high with many gangland murders taking place, a substantial number remaining unsolved. By the mid-1990s it was believed that the Ukrainian born Semion Mogilevich had become in charge of finance for some Russian Mafia syndicates ( Solntsevskaya bratva), and described by the FBI as "one of the most dangerous men in the world". By 1993 almost all banks in Russia were owned by the mafia, and 80% of businesses were paying protection money. In that year, 1400 people were murdered in Moscow, crime members killed businessmen who would not pay money to them, also reporters, politicians, bank owners and other opposed to them. The new criminal class of Russia took on a more Westernized and businesslike approach to organized crime as the more code-of-honor based Vory faded into extinction.

Quote :
Sergei Mikhailov 'Mikhas' and a fellow gangster, Boris Yakov Arshavin (Black Rose Mafia Boss) formed the organization in the mid-80s. They chose to ignore the codes and guidelines of the traditional thieves in law and based themselves on a more Western style, with Mikhas preferring to call himself a 'businessman' rather than a вор (vor, "thief"). However, strict discipline was still enforced and thieves in law were not excluded from the group's activities.
Eventually, gangs under the control of the syndicate controlled virtually the entire south-west of the city. The organization also merged with the influential Orekhovskaya gang, led by thief-in-law Sergei Timofeyev. The union was partly a result of fear of warfare with Chechen mafia groups and other "southerners".
In 1989-1990, the arrests of several gang leaders including Mikhailov crippled the organization. Several high ranking gangsters tried to form their own separate crews but ended up being murdered, including Alexander Bezuvkin (killed 1990), Dima Sharapov, Valera Merin, "Edik the Fridge", Uzbek Lenya and Abramov "Dispatcher" (all killed in 1993). In 1994 a meeting of mafia bosses was held in Vienna, shortly after which Timofeyev was murdered when a bomb in his car went off near the house of the then Russian prime minister. Timofeyev's heir to the leadership of Orekhovskaya, Igor "Max" Maksimov, was killed in February 1995. However despite all the killings, by 1996 the bratva not only regained their strength lost in the early 90's but had become one of the most powerful criminal organizations in Russia. Mikhailov used Timofeyev's death as an opportunity to take control of businesses previously owned by the Orekhovskaya organization. By the end of 1995, it was estimated the Solntsevskaya group controlled about 120 legitimate firms and businesses in the Moscow, Crimea and Samara regions. They also bought many businesses abroad.

]The Russian Mafia Aka "Vasily's Crime Family", was created in 1941 in Las Venturas by Vladimir Vasily, they started business with Drugs, Weapons and more... In 1957 was Vladimir Vasily jailed for life, his son Mogilevich Vasily taked care of Vasily's Crime Family. Vasily's Crime Family was Strong, other Gangs offered to them Allie, but Mogilevich denied it all. They all wanted Mogilevich's dead, so they combined, and attacked Mogilevich, but Vasily's Crime family was strong and they could defend him. Mogilevich knew he can't defend more attacks...He came with Mafia to Los Santos. There was better business. In Los Santos, they got big Enemies - "Gangs wearing Green Colours". Mogilevich's left hand snitched him, and in 1984 while Mogilevich sleept, he killed him with Silenced Pistol. Vasily's Crime Family almost crashed, but Dominik Vladimir [Good friend of mogilevich son] came and he had become Pakhan of Petrov's Crime Family, He saved it, but Pakhan must be from Petrov's family, so when Kucis [Son of mogilevich] was ready for this, he had become Pakhan of Vasily's Crime Family.
