The Los Santos Police Department was founded in the year 1853, since then it has always served and protected the citizens of Los Santos from any type of minor and major crime. The current number of police officers is just over 10 000, plus 3000 associated civilian staff, making it one of the largest police departments in the territory of the United States. Its main building is located in Pershing Square, Commerce. The highest rank, in control of the LSPD is called Chief of Police. The LSPD currently operates with 4 divisions and 10 sub-divisions. The most known of them are the Crime Investigation Division (CID), Community Resources Against Street Hoodlums (CRASH) and Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) amongst all other divisions.

The Crime Investigation Division handles all criminal investigations in the city of Los Santos. It was opened in the mid-60s. The investigation division was created with the idea of organized minor and major crime to be dealt with a different and more wiser approach than from before. The LSPD selects to recruit only the best working and record clean police officers, to take the positions of detectives and operate within it. All procedures are controlled by the person called Chief Inspector, who is also taking a high rank within the LSPD structure. The Special Weapons and Tactics is a division specialized for high risk situations involving more organized work with combat tactics and weaponry use. The SWAT officers are specially trained to operate with heavy damage weapons and special equipment

in order to gain control over the so called deadly situations. The head in charge of SWAT is called SWAT Commander. The Community Resources Against Street Hoodlums division is concentrated on preventing, taking control and gathering info on sight of any street level unorganized or organized crime, based mainly in the area of poor low class areas, known as "ghettos". The members within it are officers, chosen to and recruited inside the division. The division is managed by the head of CRASH. Another notable division is the Air Support Division (ASD), responsible for any air related operations and movement with the LSPD helicopters by specially trained police officer pilots.

Each member who joins the Los Santos police starts from the rank of Police Officer I. Depending on his time served in the law, by promotions he can reach the rank of Senior Lead Officer, which gives him semi-leading permissions and bigger responsibilities. From that point, only trusted officers are chosen for a promotion in a selective manner to the rank of Sergeant, as it gives bigger powers and control over lower ranked officers, thus only good performing members are chosen for it, based on their work history, knowledge and administrative abilities. The above higher ranks are into the police administration and serve with a far bigger control power within the department. Lieutenant, Captain, Commander and Chief of Police, form a part of the LSPD called the 'High Command'. This part discusses and takes any decisions for the current state and future of the LSPD, and every rank's opinion and suggestion is taken in count, respectively depending on his rank. The CID has an own rank system, sorting its members by the ranks of Detective and Senior Detective.

Information

The LSPD Air Support Division (ASD) was founded in 1956 after the first presence of an available helicopter within the law agency. Since then the ASD has grown to become an important part and figure of the LSPD. Its main purpose is to provide assist via air in any types of conditions such as following a vehicle in pursuit, patrolling or transportation. The members are officers, specially trained to operate and pilot with a helicopter effectively, after they undergo a course to learn so. The division is managed by a person taking the position of an Air Support Commander.

Recruitment

In order for an officer to join the Air Support Division, he must be minimum rank Police Officer II by the LSPD ranks in order to apply. After which, if requirements are met, he will undergo a course for piloting held by LSPD pilots, in order to gain the needed knowledge and earn a flying license. After which, by judgment from a superior, the officer is either denied or accepted into the division.

Information

The Crime Investigation Division (CID) is a special investigation division inside the LSPD, founded in 1993, to handle and work on any investigations involving minor or major crime. The members of this division are known as detectives, specially selected and recruited police officers. The division focuses on investigations of any type of crime, gathering evidence, tracing and following wanted suspects, undercover work and interrogating high priority suspects. Detectives are always dressed in civilian clothes and often engage in individual work on investigations or operations.

Recruitment

In order for an officer to become a detective and join the CID, he must be minimum rank Police Officer II by the LSPD ranks. The head of CID specially selects police officers based on the qualities, abilities and work records, offering them to join the division. Another way of joining is by applications, accepted or declined by the head of CID. As a detective, members have more freedom in doing individual work and investigating.

Information

The Special Weapons and Tactics, known as SWAT is a specialized division for high risk situations requiring the use of more organized tactical and combat work to prevent bad outcomes. The members selected to join SWAT undergo a special training procedure to gain the needed knowledge and experience. The members of SWAT must be in a perfect physical shape and health condition. They are trained to work and operate with specialized weapons and equipment used while on operations. SWAT units involve members with different specialties and tactics, depending on the situation. The Riot and Crowd Control (RCC) is a sub-division of SWAT providing any crowd security for events and dealing with riot acts. Another sub-division of SWAT is the Bomb Squad, called in use to deactivate explosives.

Specialties

Gunner: He has the skill of operating with a specialized SWAT weapon.

Heavy Gunner: He has the skill of operating with a heavy damage specialized SWAT weapon.

Sniper: He has the skill of operating with a sniper rifle, taking positions in ongoing operations.

Demolition Expert: He has the skill of defusing known types of explosives, also carrying explosives in ongoing operations.

Combat Medic: He has the skill and knowledge of providing overall medical help in ongoing operations, carrying a medical kit.

Technician: He has the skill for any tactical and technical engineer duties in ongoing operations, frequently working with tools.

Recruitment

In order for an officer to join the SWAT, he must be minimum rank Police Officer II by the LSPD ranks. After which he needs to fill a joining application form and forward it to the SWAT commander. If requirements met, the officer will be called to participate in a series of trainings to gain any knowledge. After which the officer will be either denied or accepted into SWAT by the Commander's judgment grade.

This is a list of the team responsibilities while we're doing S.W.A.T duties involving combat and moving. This is usually valid when we are in interiors or tight spaces in general and have to move and clean the different areas or rooms. Everyone has to perform his responsibility and trust his team members on doing their.

Right Side (1Red)
Responsibility: When moving or cleaning a room, he has to cover the right perimeter and make sure it's clear. He is usually one of the first in the line.

Left Side (2Red)
Responsibility: When moving or cleaning a room, he has to cover the left perimeter and make sure it's clear. He is usually one of the first in the line.

Middle One (E)
Middle Two (E/1Blue)
Middle Three (1Blue)
Responsibility: When moving or cleaning a room, he has to stand in the middle and clear the central perimeter. He sometimes can take position behind the Left Side and Right Side members and keep an aim, depending if he is one, two or three.

Back (2Blue)
Responsibility: When moving or cleaning a room, he has to cover the back. If there isn't such a command, he usually is on the back of the line and keeps an aim behind the other team members.

Breacher
Responsibility: He has the responsibility of breaking down doors and other obstacles with his weapon or tools. He usually walks last after everybody or keeps the back (Middle, Back or Technician).

Locker
Responsibility: He has the responsibility of hand cuffing the suspects and frisking them for any items.
