The One Eighty Sevens (187s) started out as a small tag crew based out of East Los Santos. After the death of Asesino, a notorious street gangster that cut ties from the Varrio Gardens, these teenagers and young adults started hanging out together because most had a relative or knew someone who worked for Asesino or Joker, his right-hand. Eventually, they started vandalizing wall after wall with tributes across South Central, with markers and spray cans. The more stories and neighbourhood tales they heard and shared among themselves from the two criminals, the more this fantasized image grew in their heads, until they created and started following their own doctrine, like a cult.
This is evidenced by the way they carry themselves out in public, such as forming a pair of horns with their hands as a greet or adopting different names such as The Devil Boyz or the Murda Team, anything that could be related to the evil and sick present in the world.
All the while the Vagos were losing some reach and control on the streets while the 187s made a name for themselves, so they swallowed their pride and proposed the crew to join under their umbrella. This happened on a condition— since the 187s are small in numbers but some live scattered further south, therefore having an eye on rival turfs, their importance was more valued and they were allowed to operate tax-free by the Vagos. Thus, they evolved from a tag crew into a small scale street gang that deals and uses narcotics, strips down stolen cars and commit homicides.
